Abstract: This study investigated the effectiveness of Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) in improving speaking skills among tenth-grade students at Viet My High School in Vietnam. The study was conducted over 17 weeks at a Vietnamese high school examined the effectiveness of TBLT on tenth-grade students’ speaking skills. The study, comparing a TBLT group to a control group, found significant improvements in speaking for both groups of students. Importantly, TBLT appeared to be especially effective in boosting the speaking abilities of lower-performing students. Students in the TBLT group also expressed positive attitudes towards the method, indicating they felt more prepared and motivated by its emphasis on reallife communication. These results strongly suggest that TBLT offers a meaningful way to teach speaking, aligning with Vietnam’s educational goals and fostering positive learning attitudes.
